It's considerably cheaper than the often proposed PTFE, but is equally effective. Polyethylene is a 'greasy' plastic that privides lubrication. Sits on a home-made plate with a polyethylene shim between them. The wedge is made by Astroparts (a UK company?) and seems to be of similar construction to the Meade X-Wedge. Jackĭon't know whether my solution to the thrust bar issue is of any help, but I modified the bar supplied with my wedge, purchased second hand.
